MSC postpones Virtuosa and Seashore debuts
June 5, 2020

The new MSC Virtuosa, second Meraviglia-Plus Class ship under construction in Saint-Nazaire, France was set to launch in October 2020 but now MSC and the Chantiers de l’Atlantique have agreed to postpone its delivery until March 2021 due the COVID-19 crisis. The shipyard plant has reopened recently after the country started to relax restrictions.

The ship is currently in the outfitting phase which followed the float-out ceremony, held in November 2019. MSC Virtuosa will showcase an even larger Mediterranean-style promenade, the ground-breaking feature unique to Meraviglia generation ships that serves as the social hub of the ship. This award-winning promenade will host surprise performances, including flash mobs and themed parties as well as the awe-inspiring projections on the even longer 98.5-metre LED Sky screen.

In the same way MSC Seashore, first Seaside EVO Class ships built by Fincantieri in Monfalcone, will debut with some weeks delay. The ship will sail for the first time during August.

The ship is currently in the building phase which followed the coin ceremony, held in September 2019. MSC Seashore will be an enriched version of the innovative and highly successful Seaside generation of MSC Cruises ships. The increased size of the ship, 16 metres, has allowed for some of the public spaces to be redesigned with the introduction of new public areas as well as optimizing the location of other venues of the ship.

However, the rest of MSC investiments plan remains confirmed as scheduled. Discover our Orderbook page to find out MSC ships on order.
