GNV ferry becomes a floating hospital in Genoa
March 19, 2020

Starting from today the ferry Splendid, owned by GNV, MSC Group‘s Italian ferry brand, is able to enter in service as a modern and equipped floating hospital anchored in the port of Genoa, capable of welcoming patients and offering essential services and interventions also for intensive care during Covid-19 crisis in Italy.

The project, put in place in record time, was promoted by Grandi Navi Veloci managment and supported by MSC owner Gianluigi Aponte, in partnership with the Mayor of Genoa, the President of Liguria Region, the Italian Department of Civil Protection and RINA.

In case of needs another ship of the MSC Group would be used, increasing the availability of accommodation, solving an increasingly distressing problem for the population: the lack of beds and in some cases specialized hospital assistance for those who are not infected with Coronavirus but have other pathologies, more or less serious.

In the meantime MSC Cruises fleet has temporary stopped operations worldwide, click here to find out more.
